I'll go first. In no particular order: Jessica Jones, She-Hulk, Emma Frost, Catwoman, Huntress, Black Widow, Black Canary, Wonder Woman, Fire, Ice, Molly Hayes, Power Girl, Oracle, The Question and the ladies of Gen13 (but particularly Caitlin Fairchild and Roxy Spaulding).
As a rule, I'm a fan of any superheroine who is complex, strong, interesting from a psychological perspective and perhaps overly fond of kicking ass. If they actively deconstruct and add a gray area to the very "superheroine" conceit, bonus points (hello Jessica Jones, Emma Frost, et al). I especially dig cerebral superheroines, particularly if their intelligence supersedes all the qualities listed above (I'm still waiting for someone other than Gail Simone and Adam Warren to dig into the diamond in the rough that is Caitlin Fairchild, for instance).
Anyways, contrasts, power and drive create interesting characters of any kind and the fictional women listed above don't lack for that. Well, save maybe Ice and Molly Hayes (in terms of contrasts), but it's nice to have at least two characters who are both genuinely sweet while remaining undoubtedly kick-ass.
Feel free to ask me to expand on my love of any of these characters or, if you like, to let me know why you just flat-out loathe them*. But seriously, let me know - which superheroines are your favorites?

Yeah, that's pretty much the whole news Item! right there. There's a return to Detective Comics featuring Batwoman and Action Comics featuring Nightwing and Flamebird. It's nice that DC's taken all that press and attention Batwoman got two years ago and used it wisely by starting a series after all the buzz has completely vanished. Way to go, DC. Still, say what you will about the dismissal of Oracle, the Birds of Prey and Cassandra Cain to make room for the new Batlady on the block, I'm still totally there. And I don't even freakin' read any Superman comics, so this "Nightwing/Flamebird" thing is going to be a bit of headache. Oh, well.
I may be Greg Rucka's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Additionally, there's some animated show or another that's going to feature the voices of Seth Green and Kevin Conroy next season. Y'know, if you're into that whole "watching awesome cartoons" scene.

Yes, folks, some extremely obscure manga series about a green-haired girl has gotten a new owner and will therefore have a Brand New 6th volume released in September. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm really looking forward to Happy Happy Tiny Super Child She-Hulk Adventure Time.

Un genetista brillante, Miguel O'Hara consigue su DNA Irlandés-Mexicana combinada con la DNA de la araña, debido a un compañero de trabajo celoso que intenta matarlo. In a recent e-mail to Occasional Superheroine, I got pretty high and might about why I preferred Marvel to DC. Marvel has the characters I care about, I said, the damaged messy ones that piss me off or make me laugh. DC just had the icons and the big stories.
I stopped and thought about this today . . .
The last time I was furious about a character dying besides Layla Miller was when Big Barda went out without a fight in a kitchen. Before her, it was Knockout and before her, it was Sue Dibney and before her, Ted Kord.
The last time I got really annoyed at a character's new direction was Catwoman, then Wonder Woman (no longer - thank you Miss Simone), then the dissolution of the Secret Six.
The last time I cheered at a character's return - actually pumped my fist in the air and said "Fuck, yeah!" - was Ice. I also misted up at her reunion with Fire.
No character infuriates me or makes me quite as happy in terms of pure character arc as Batman and his passive-aggressive relationships with his Batfamily.
Yes, Emma Frost, Deadpool, Jamie Madrox, Jessica Jones and Spidey are the ones who are my favorites. They'll always be my top five.
But I think I definitely owe DC an apology.
Or at least need to send a retraction to Occasional Superheroine.*
*That and I forgot to include Y: The Last Man on my list of must-reads . . . but that's another kettle of fish.
