If I wanted to be a huge nitpicky nerd, I'd complain about the lack of Barnabas (is it just me or does Death look like she's trying to pet an invisible dog? Maybe Jill Thompson ran out of time?) but man, it's just so nice to see Fiddler's Green and all the other characters again. This poster is freakin' amazing. Makes me wistful that I don't have the funds to afford a trip to SDCC or, failing that, another volume of Absolute Sandman (I've got Vol. 1 due to the birthday kindness of lovely friends but that's it thus far).

It's a pretty good series even though I only have the first three trades that I bought on a whim about a year ago. I'd like to say that the Doll House arc actually succeeded in making me very uncomfortable, in the good sort of way, not in the "Why does Dr. Light love rape so much?" way. I've been thinking about picking up the rest of the trades when I find them used. Sorry $20 is a bit too much to buy anything new that isn't hardcover or Essential/Showcase. I'm cheap.
I DID see, it and I did love it. It's funny, but I missed Barnabas as well. No Eve, either.
I have all the books of course, and they are well worth it. It's something that you can go back and read again and again.
First, I'd highly recommend finding yourself the rest of the series in floppy form. Check 'em out from the library if you have to. I don't delve much into the hyperbole but I'd say with some solidity that Sandman is probably the most intelligently written comic book series of the past twenty years. Plot threads from the 2nd volume reoccur in the 9th, characters you dismissed as throwaway become vital and your mind just gets blown. It's beautiful.
SallyP, I gave away all my single trades to a girl I was madly in love with, naively assuming I'd have all the Absolute volumes as they came out. I really do miss rereading them time and time again and picking up on the new things I missed (even having read them hundreds of times before). You would think they'd have snuck Eve in there, wouldn't you? Oh, well. I guess I'm just miffed that tool Hector Hall gets some face time when other cooler characters don't.
